Meet Your Compassionate Guide To Growth, Healing, And Hope

At Reign Psychotherapy, I believe seeking help is not easy, but it is a courageous step. It is okay to acknowledge that you are not okay and you need help. Whether you are navigating through trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or struggles with self-worth and eating issues, you are not alone. Healing is not linear, but with the right support, growth and transformation are possible.

My name is Katie McDonald, LCSW, and I am thrilled to accompany you on your road to emotional stability. My journey to becoming a therapist began at one of the most crucial periods of my life: as a stay at home mother to my young girls. Balancing parenthood and graduate school, I received my Advanced Standing MSW from the University of Buffalo in 2018.

If there’s one thing I’ve heard over and over from clients, it’s “You’re so easy to talk to.” And honestly, I take that to heart. Being personable and empathetic aren’t just traits I happen to have, it’s something I value deeply in the way I show up as a therapist.

Therapy can feel intimidating at first. My goal is to create a space that feels real, relaxed, and rooted in trust. I bring my authentic self to every session, no cold clinical vibes, no judgment, no pretense - just honest connection, compassion, and the belief that healing happens best when you feel truly seen and heard.

I began my career providing in-home counseling for children and teenagers. This gave me an insight into the emotional lives of young people and their families. From there, I transitioned to working in an outpatient clinic for adults, where I specialized in dual diagnoses by supporting individuals navigating mental health concerns and substance use challenges.

In 2021, I joined Shurmatz Counseling, a group private practice that was a watershed moment in my professional career. It was there that I developed my clinical abilities and discovered my voice and identity as a psychotherapist. That helped establish the groundwork for Reign Psychotherapy. My current practice focuses on Couples Therapy, PTSD and Complex Trauma Recovery, Grief and Loss Counseling, and Eating Disorder Therapy.

Reign Psychotherapy is here to help you move forward. You deserve to be at peace, seen, and empowered. I'm here to help you get there. You are stronger than you know. Don't lose hope because better days are coming. Connect with me today!
